About Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is considered to be one of Britain's top zoos. It is located in Cheshire, in north west England, and is currently operated by the North of England Zoological Society, a registered charity founded in 1934. It houses more than 7000 animals, representing 400 different species, among its most recent attractions being "Elephants of the Asian Forest", a new £3 million exhibit which is home to tree shrews, hornbills, squirrels, peafowl, Arowana and Probarbus fish, and a herd of Asian Elephants, and Realm of the Red Ape, home to the zoo's Bornean and Sumatran orangutans.
The zoo is close to the historic city of Chester, one of the best preserved walled cities in the British Isles, and it is set in 110 acres of award-winning gardens, boasting with rare, exotic and endangered wildlife.
